Ad Difesa Servizi, ‘platform for dialogue between peoples’
In the presence of the Italian ambassador to India, Antonio Bartoli, the CEO of Difesa Servizi, Luca Andreoli, and the commander of the Navy schools, Admiral Antonio Natale, the Villaggio Italia was officially inaugurated today in Mumbai, the multi-annual traveling expo which brings together the best of Made in Italy and which is accompanying the Amerigo Vespucci ship on its world tour.
The ceremony opened to the tune of ‘Con te partirò’ played by the Air Force band. In his greeting, Ambassador Bartoli underlined the importance of the Mumbai stop which brought Vespucci to a port in India for the first time after traveling 40,000 miles, sailing three oceans and rounding Cape Horn. “Relations with India are progressing well,” underlined the ambassador.
For his part, Andreoli highlighted how Vespucci and Villaggio Italia have also demonstrated here in Mumbai that they have achieved an important objective: to become a “communication platform” that allows building bridges between peoples and encouraging dialogue.
The ceremony concluded with the national anthems of Brazil and Italy sung again by the Air Force band and the lowering of the flag on the Vespucci. The Villaggio Italia, set up at the Indira Dock of the port of Mumbai, will remain open to visits by the Indian public until 2 December.
