The project by the Tuscan studio Imaginarium tomorrow at the Guro Arts Valley Art Theater
After Tokyo, “Turandot of the Stars” arrives in Seoul. The videomapping and live music project of the Tuscan artistic studio Imaginarium, designed to celebrate the centenary of Giacomo Puccini’s last opera, will be the protagonist tomorrow at 7.30 pm at the Guro Arts Valley Art Theater, in a Media-Concert created by the Italian duo with the South Korean trio Hangang Factory. The event is presented by the Italian Cultural Institute of Seoul in collaboration with the Guro Cultural Foundation.
The project tells of Puccini’s imaginary journey to discover the sounds of the world: if in historical reality the oriental melodies of “Turandot” reached the composer in Torre del Lago through music boxes, stories and scores, in the show it is the Maestro who travels to directly encounter distant musical traditions and integrate them into his composition.
The first Asian stage was held on September 3 in Tokyo, where pianist Davide Giannoni played with Hosokawa Takahiro on koto and Yashiro Saori on shakuhachi. The projections, created entirely through hand drawings on paper and subsequently animated, accompany the dialogue between Puccini’s music and local traditions. The tour will continue in November in California and Como, while the 2027 stages are being defined.
