The emperor: ‘Working together for a sustainable future’
(by Francesco Betrò) Tradition and innovation, seasoned with a show of lights and sounds that captured the attention of the approximately 1500 for almost two hours at the pre-opening ceremony of Expo 2025 in Osaka. The doors, on the other hand, will officially open to the public on Sunday 13 April, when the pavilions’ tape is cut. In the meantime, it is the respectful silence to reign while Yutaka Sado directs the orchestra. A silence interrupted only when the emperor Naruhito and the imperator Masako enter the room, sitting in the places of honor above the audience. Co-deductive of the event is Imma, “the virtual human being” who has been appointed special supporter of the event.
While Imma explains the peculiarities of Expo, on the head of those present in the Shining Hat the large golden circular roof shines: the amphitheater is wrapped in a pure white fabric, creating a festive space that symbolizes, in fact, “a future in which life shines”. The same theme taken up in the speech of the emperor, who tells of when at 10 years he visited the Exposition of Osaka in 1970 and how he interacted with the various countries of the world: “I sincerely hope that the Expo serves as an opportunity for people to respect not only their lives, but also that of those who surround them and the various forms of life that exist in nature, and to be inspired by working together to create a sustainable future”.
In the room the classic melodies of the symphonic orchestras, of wind and harmonics of the city of Osaka and the Kansai region alternate, while images that recall the 158 participating countries are projected on the walls. Then on the stage the Japanese banner is raised next to that of Expo 2025, in which the mascot Myaku -myku is depicted, and those present is asked to stand for the moment of the Nen’s.
But it is still the union with the modern that stands out on the notes of the popular Japanese band Kobukuro, author of the song “Kono Hoshi No Tsuzuki Wo” that represents the event. Around dancers dressed in the colors of the Japanese banner accompany the band, while the flags of the 158 countries participate in the event parade.
Among the guests of honor there is also the Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to launch a message of hope because “in times like these it is extremely significant for people all over the world come to discuss the theme of life and be exposed to cutting -edge technologies, different ways of thinking and different cultures”. Ishiba precisely Friday had been the protagonist of a nice curtain with the mascot robot. Myaku -myku asked the premier if he would go to the inauguration event, he turned her best wishes.
Note The number of tickets sold in pre-Sales out of tune: to date they are just over 9 million compared to the 14 who had been budget. But until 13 October there is still time to achieve the goal of about 28-30 million desired visitors.
