Tajani landed in Osaka, will inaugurate the Italian Pavilion in Expo

The mission in Japan, Focus on Export, Sport and Culture

Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani arrived in Osaka for a two -day mission in which he will inaugurate the Italian pavilion of Expo 2025 and will push to encourage exports and internationalization of businesses. In fact, Japan has been identified as a priority country among the non -EU markets to be developed in the action plan for Italian exports presented by the government.

Arriving from New Delhi, the minister’s mission will start with the participation in the Holy Mass of the Palm celebrated in the Church of San Paolo in Amagasaki by Msgr. Rino Fisichella, pro-prefect for the evangelization and commissioner general of the Holy See for Expo 2025 Osaka (whose pavilion is hosted within the Italian one).

At 3 pm – 8 Italians – there will be the inauguration ceremony of the Italian pavilion in Expo Osaka. “Godmother” of the inauguration will be Serena Autieri, and the band of the Carabinieri weapon will also be present, which will perform the national hymns and a short musical show. In addition to Minister Tajani, the Commissioner General for Italy at the Expo, Mario Vattani, Msgr. Rino Fisichella and the architect Mario Cucinella, creator of the pavilion. There will be Italian and Japanese partners of the pavilion, sponsors and institutional delegations: among others, Salvatore De Meo, member of the European Parliament, Federico Mollicone, president of the Culture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and Eugenio Zoffili, president of the Italian – Japan section of friendship, together with other members of the group. The mayor Luigi Brugnaro will also be present, as Venice will be the protagonist of the first week of pavilion activity. In addition, the leaders of the Italian System Agency will be present, together with the Vice President of Confindustria, Barbara Cimmino and the president of Confartigianato, Marco Gramelli. The participation of the Italian Space Agency and the Milan-Cortina 2026 Foundation is also planned.

After the ceremony, the visit to the Italian Pavilion and that of the Holy See will follow, where the unveiling of Caravaggio’s work “La Deposition” will take place. Following, there will be the presentation of the “Focus Asia-Pacific” of the action plan for Italian exports in the high potential non-potential markets, and a moment dedicated to sports diplomacy, “the Giro d’Italia for Made in Italy in the world”.

Tajani’s mission in Osaka will continue on April 14 with visits to the Shinto Sumyoshi Taisha Sanctuary, the Buddhist temple Shitenno-Ji and the Freate Its Marceglia at the port of the city. Then follow a visit to the Expo area, and then continue with a moment dedicated to the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, with the unveiling ceremony of the Olympic and Paralympic torches.
