Leader of the People Power Party urges unity ahead of the vote
The deputies of the People Power Party will remain united against the motion to impeach South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, presented by the opposition after the clumsy attempt to impose martial law. “All our 108 deputies will remain united to reject the impeachment,” assured Choo Kyung-ho, the party head in Parliament in a livestreamed meeting. The opposition counts on 192 votes and needs another eight to reach the quorum of 200. In the parliamentary vote between Tuesday and Wednesday, at least a dozen deputies from the People Power Party voted to block martial law.
