A plane carrying 175 passengers and six crew members crashed this morning at Muan airport in southwestern South Korea. There are currently at least 96 confirmed victimsWhile two people were rescued. This was reported by the South Korean news agency Yonhap.
The accident occurred at 9:07 am local time, when a flight landing at the international airport in South Jeolla province deviated from the runway and crashed into fences. The plane is a flight of the South Korean low-cost Jeju Air (7C 2216) which departed from Bangkokin Thailand. The cause of the accident would be a failure of the aircraft’s undercarriage, which would not have opened following the impact with birds during landing. The passengers on board the aircraft were all Korean and two Thai.
