It hit the ground this morning
One death and 73 injuries have been reported in Taiwan due to typhoon Kong-rey which hit the island this morning. This was reported by the firefighters on site.
Super typhoon Kong-rey has made landfall in Taiwan, according to the local meteorological agency, as one of the most powerful storms to hit the island in recent years unleashed violent winds and torrential rain. Kong-rey reached the east coast in Chenggong city in Taitung county at 1.40pm local time, the Central Weather Administration said.
