He said to represent ‘Saborga, Poulvia and Lodonia’

The Indian police arrested this week a man who for 10 years has passed off as an ambassador of fictitious countries, presumably to defraud people looking for work with promises of jobs abroad.

The 47 -year -old Harsh Vardhan Jain had rented a house in Ghaziabad, a city about 30 kilometers from New Delhi, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, said the police in a statement, adding that the man claimed to be the ambassador of “Western Arctic, Saborga, Poulvia and Lodonia”, non -existent nations.

Jain is accused of driving with false diplomatic plates and of sharing retouched photos in which he appeared next to Indian leaders, to increase his credibility. “His main activities consisted of acting as an intermediary to find work abroad for companies and individuals, as well as managing a network transfer network through facade company,” said the police after his arrest.

The false ambassador is also accused of money laundering. During the search of his home, the police seized $ 53,500 (45,500 euros) in cash, as well as passports and false documents with stamps from the Indian Foreign Ministry.

The western art, which he claimed to represent, is an NGO based in the United States which is described as “dedicated to the study and conservation of the vast, magnificent and desolate region” of western Antarctica. The police said that Jain had been appointed “Honorary Consul in India” of the NGO after making her a “substantial donation”.

However, “he has never been appointed or authorized to hold the position of ambassador,” he added.
