‘The Palestinian issue remains the heart of the Middle Eastern question’
The Middle East must remain in the hands of its peoples and external powers must abandon double standards: this is the message launched by Xi Jinping during the exchange of views on the regional situation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo.
Xinhua reports that Xi stressed the need to reject external interference and find a comprehensive solution to common security in the Middle East.
The Chinese president also stated that the Palestinian issue remains the heart of the Middle East issue and must never be ignored or marginalized. Xi then proposed a new four-point security architecture for the region and called for an effective role for the United Nations in Middle Eastern affairs.
China, Xi added, is ready to work with countries in the region to safeguard the security of international maritime routes.
During the meeting in Cairo, Xi Jinping called on China and Egypt to build new strengths in cooperation in several sectors, including green energy, electric vehicles, aerospace, digital economy and modern agricultural technologies, Xinhua reports.
