Vespucci towards Mumbai, Villaggio Italia opens from November 28th

All national excellences on display until December 2nd

After Phuket in Thailand, the Amerigo Vespucci ship, ambassador of Made in Italy in the world, is sailing in the waters of the Indian Ocean towards Mumbai, India’s main commercial and financial center and India’s largest film production centre.

The historic Navy sailing ship will stop in Mumbai for the first time in its 93 years of history, from 28 November to 2 December accompanied by the Villaggio Italia, the “Multi-annual Traveling World Exhibition” of Italian excellence promoted by the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto at the which includes, with the presidency of the Council of Ministers, eleven ministries.

In Mumbai, the 28th stage of the Vespucci World Tour and fifth appointment with the Villaggio Italia, the Minister of Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso will be present; the undersecretary of Defense Matteo Perego of Cremnago; the Italian ambassador to India Antonio Bartoli; the Chief of Staff of the Navy, team admiral Enrico Credendino and Luca Andreoli, CEO of Difesa Servizi, the in-house company of the Ministry of Defense which implements and supports all phases of the initiative.

From 28 November to 2 December, all the beauty of Italy will be on display in 6,000 m2 of exhibition space: design, art, cinema, photography, music, technology and innovation, debates, conferences and visits on board of the most beautiful ship in the world: the Vespucci World Tour brings all the experiences that have attracted great public interest to the Villaggio Italia in Mumbai.

Design will be the protagonist with the “Italia Geniale” exhibition dedicated to Italian design, created by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and the Ministry of Defense in collaboration with ADI Design Museum, which tells the world about the capabilities of invention, creativity and design of Made in Italy; art, with the work “La David” created by Jacopo Cardillo, aka Jago, a young but already famous Italian sculptor (one of the most instagrammed) who with his marble sculptures is inspired by the past and wants to overcome it (he is the first artist to have sent a marble sculpture to the International Space Station, in 2019, on the occasion of ESA’s Beyond mission); cinema, with programming created in collaboration with the international film exhibition of the Venice Biennale; photography, with the exhibition curated by ANSA entitled “Italy, traveling through time” and the exhibition “We are the Sea” curated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with shots dedicated to the Italian seas, coasts and landscapes and the need to protect its wealth.

Even in Mumbai, music will be the protagonist every day at the Villaggio Italia, thanks to the presence of the Air Force Band and a Puccini gala organized, exceptionally, at The Royal Opera House in Mumbai at 7pm on 29 November on the occasion of the centenary of his death by Giacomo Puccini.

Moments of meeting, in-depth analysis and networking will be dedicated to strategic themes for the country starting from the appointment “Amerigo Vespucci ship meets India, from Mumbai, a look at Italy” organized by the ANSA press agency – which will take place on the 29th November starting from 3pm local time – with focus on “success stories of Italians in India and Indians in Italy through the fusion of different cultures”. This appointment will be followed by: the conference “Invest in Italy: where innovating is tradition. A foreign direct investment conference” organized by the Minister of Business and Made in Italy dedicated to attracting investments with the related networking moment (30 November from 10.30); the conference dedicated to the Blue and Space Economy (again on 30 November from 2.30 pm); the meeting “Vespucci meets the Italian companies in India” dedicated to Italian companies in Marahastra organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in India, ICE – Italian Trade Agency, Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (December 1st from 10am); the event “Vespucci meets Festa Italiana” exhibition of products from the Made in Italy lifestyle sector organized by the Chamber of Commerce (28 November at 7pm), the event “Exploring La Dolce Vita: Italy’s offer to India’s travel thrill” the appointment organized by Enit and the Ministry of Tourism dedicated to tourist operators with an ad hoc focus dedicated to the luxury market (1st December at 11.30am), the conference dedicated to IMEC the economic corridor India-Middle East-Europe (1 December at 3pm) and the event “Crafting Elegance: the World of Luxury between Italy and India”, discussion with designers and companies on possible synergies between Italy and India in the world of luxury. (1st December at 6.00pm).

Technology and innovation will, however, have a new dedicated space in Mumbai thanks to the presence of the immersive exhibition “Looking Beyond”, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation together with the Italian Space Agency and Telespazio/e -GEOS by the Leonardo group which offers an engaging experience among 60 spectacular images of our planet acquired by the satellites of the Italian constellation of the ASI and the Ministry of Defense, COSMO-SkyMed. It will offer an opportunity for reflection on the contribution of satellite technologies to Earth observation, the promotion of sustainable development and the protection of natural and cultural heritage.

Finally, there will be the story of the most innovative infrastructures in the country, between present and future, North and South of Italy, with the Venice Mose and the project of the Bridge over the Strait of Messina.
