No news of victims, there were 2000 families. Shocking images
(ANSA-AFP) – MANILA, NOV 24 – A devastating fire, with flames and thick black smoke rising into the sky, broke out in a slum in the Philippine capital Manila. The city’s fire district said about 1,000 homes were burned in the fire that is believed to have started on the second floor of one of the homes. At the moment there are no reports of victims.
Drone footage shared online by the city’s disaster agency shows houses in Manila’s Isla Puting Bato village razed to the ground. According to the firefighters, the structures housed around 2,000 families.
The fire and emergency services deployed 36 trucks and four motor pumps, while the country’s air force sent two helicopters to help put out the fire.
“That area is at risk of fire since most of the houses are made of light materials,” explained one of the firefighters. (ANSA-AFP).
