Takaichi President LDP, Japan towards the first Premier Woman

Of the conservative wing, prevails over Koizumi in the ballot

It will be the 64 -year -old Sanae Takaichiformer Minister of Economic Security, the new President of Liberal-Democrats (LDP), the government party in Japan, who is probably preparing to become the first premier women in the country.

The original policy of Nara, belonging to the most conservative wing of the party and considered the dolphin of the former assassinated premier Shinzo Abe, prevailed by winning 185 votes against the 156 of the rival at the end of the ballot necessary after the first vote.

The new mandate at the helm of the ADP will last until 2027, and with the victory, Takaichi is preparing to officially succeed the outgoing premier Shigeru Ishiba over the month. The government coalition, in fact, albeit minority, remains the first parliamentary force thanks to the alliance with the Centrista Komeito party, in the presence of a fragmented opposition. “We will transform this perception of anxiety that pervades our society, into a feeling of hope,” said Takaichi in the acceptance speech.

Former TV presenter, Takaichi entered Japanese politics in 1993, winning a seat in the lower chamber as independent, in representation of his Christmas prefecture, Nara, in central Japan. After joining the conservative party in 1996, he held the position of Minister of State for the Affairs of Okinawa and the northern territories in the EBE executive, subsequently became the first woman to preside over the political research council of the ADP. Takaichi then became minister of internal affairs and communications, holding this role for a record period of 1,438 days. In 2022 the new appointment as Minister of Economic Security. The new leader of the conservative party – who often cites the English statesman Margaret Thatcher as a model, supports the economic policies called ‘Abenomics’, in approval of a greater monetary stimulus through the Bank of Japan, the strengthening of public spending and the intensification of structural reforms to increase competitiveness and long -term growth. Affiliated to the Nippon Kaigi, the major non -governmental organization and an extreme right -wing and ultra -annualist far -right pressure group of Japan, is a firm opposition to the marriage between people of the same sex and the double surname. He also said he was in favor of the revision of article 9 of the Japanese Constitution that prohibits Japan to enter an armed conflict, and is considered a “hawk” towards China.
