A reticulated python was saved by Nparks’s wildlife officers, the body responsible for the management of the natural areas of Singapore, after it had been trapped in a drain tube near one of the most crowded underground stations in the heart of the city -State. The rescue operation, which lasted over five hours, ended with the liberation of the snake in nature.

In response to a request from the Straits Times, the director of the Wildlife Management Group of Nparks, How Choon Beng, said the reptile was issued in a nature reserve after being subjected to a veterinary exam.

The reticulated pitons play a fundamental ecological role in Singapore, contributing to the control of the rodent population.
