The most important task for Russia and China is to counter any US attempt at containment. This is what the secretary of the Russian National Security Council Serghei Shoigu said when meeting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing.
“I consider the most important task to be countering the ‘double containment’ policy of Russia and China pursued by the US and its satellites,” Shoigu said, according to Russian media. US President-elect Donald Trump has threatened to impose high tariffs on China. Russia, on the other hand, is accused of increasing interference in the United States.
