Pyongyang, 'always ready for nuclear retaliation'

The Foreign Minister talks with Lavrov in Moscow

North Korea will continue to develop its arsenal to be ready for “nuclear retaliation” in the event of aggression. Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui said this while meeting her Russian counterpart Serghei Lavrov in Moscow. Choe, quoted by Tass, denounced the current “threats” against her country, speaking of “nuclear attack plans” on Pyongyang developed by the US and South Korea.

North Korea stands “firmly behind its Russian comrades” and has “no doubt” that Russia will win “a great victory” in Ukraine. Foreign Minister Choe Song Hui said this while meeting her Russian counterpart Serghei Lavrov in Moscow. This was reported by Tass.

According to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, 8,000 North Korean soldiers have been deployed in Russia’s Kursk region, and could be used in fighting against invading Ukrainian troops. Asked to comment on this statement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he had “nothing to add to what was previously stated on this topic.”

Last week, President Vladimir Putin had not denied the transfer of North Korean troops and had recalled Article 4 of a strategic cooperation treaty between Moscow and Pyongyang, which provides for mutual military aid in the event of aggression against one of the two countries.
