Army, ‘Taliban must better control borders’
The Pachistano army claimed to have killed at least 30 alleged militants while trying to cross the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
In a declaration taken from Anadolu, the army said that the movement of a group of militants who tried to infiltrate through the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan was identified by the security forces in the Hassan Khel area, in the tribal district of northern Waziristan, near the Afghan border.
“Our troops have effectively hired and foiled the attempt to infiltrate the Khawarij, supported by India”, reads the declaration. A large amount of weapons, ammunition and explosives from militants has also been recovered.
The Pakistani army said that the Taliban administration with Afghan interim “must control” and prevent the use of Afghan soil by “foreign agents” to orchestrate terrorist activities against Pakistan.
There was no immediate reaction from New Delhi or Kabul to the declaration of the Pakistani army.
Last week, at least 13 Pachistani soldiers were killed in a suicide attack in North Waziristan, in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, near the border with Afghanistan, while 14 terrorists were killed by the military in later operations.
Islamabad accuses the militants of Tehreek-and-taliban Pakistan (TTP), presumably based in Afghanistan, of having made terrorist attacks in Pakistan, while Kabul denies that these attacks are launched by its territory.
