The European Commission will donate one million euros to humanitarian aid and 130 tons of aid in basic necessities in response to the earthquake in Afghanistan.
This was announced by the European executive in a note, specifying that the resources will be intended for humanitarian partners who are already carrying out rescue operations on the field.
Among the 130 tons of humanitarian aid from their own supplies there will be goods as well as necessity such as curtains and other housing items, clothes, medical supplies and material for water purification. They will be delivered through two humanitarian flights financed by the EU who should arrive in Kabul at the end of this week.
Brussels says that he has also activated the Copernicus satellite service to produce emergency maps that will facilitate the delivery of aid. In a note, the Commission also clarifies that assistance is added to the 161 million euros of humanitarian aid already allocated in 2025 for humanitarian organizations in the country.
