OIM, 500 thousand unlocked Afghan for climatic disasters in 2024

More than half a million people in Afghanistan have been displaced due to climatic disasters in 2024. The international organization for migration (OIM) in a published report affirmed it.

“Almost 9 million people have been affected by climatic risks in the last 12 months, with over 500,000 displaced persons due to floods, droughts and other disasters,” reads the report on the country.

According to this source, most of the displaced people come from the regions of Herat and Farah (west). According to local authorities, in the south-west of the country, floods caused the death of 39 people in just two days.
