Thousands of supporters and detractors of the president took to the streets
Thousands of South Koreans demonstrate on the streets of Seoul on Saturday in an increasingly chaotic political context, a day after a failed attempt to arrest ousted President Yoon Suk Yeol, accused of “rebellion” for trying to impose martial law at the beginning of December.
Detractors and supporters gathered separately, in the capital’s avenues and in front of Mr. Yoon’s house, some calling for his arrest and others for the annulment of his dismissal voted by the National Assembly. South Korea’s largest trade union (KCTU) had also undertaken a march towards Yoon’s residence but was blocked by police, who reported two members arrested and several injured.
