Opening markets is beneficial for the entire European Union
“The mutual opening of markets leads to growth with equal convenience and with an advantage for all the countries of the European Union”. But a level playing field must be ensured and the “removal of obstacles” that still exist must be ensured. “We have widely solicited this principle with mutual interest, receiving some assurances which we hope will be developed in the near future.” The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, said this while meeting a delegation of Italian entrepreneurs in Canton, China.
“There is a need for rebalancing in the import-export relationship, a need we have underlined several times in the meetings” we have had in recent days in China. “Italian investments continue to grow and the government supports them. However, Chinese investments in Italy are much lower.” Therefore we must seek a “rebalancing”, added the head of state, ensuring that “the Republic and the government pay attention to this great country which has grown dramatically in recent decades”.
