Lee, 'protectionism threatens our own survival'

The new president of South Korea in the settlement speech

The new South Korean president Lee Jae-Myung has reaffirmed the alliance between South Korea and the USA, promising greater trilateral cooperation with Japan.

In the settlement speech, a few hours after the victory to the presidential elections, Lee promised a “flexible and pragmatic” government, undertaking to restore democracy. “The rapid changes in the global order, such as growing protectionism and renovation of the supply chain, represent a threat to our own survival”, added Lee, on the commercial chaos triggered by the duties of Donald Trump, when the economy depends on the export.
