Kim Jong Uno receives the families of the soldiers who have fallen in Russia

No official data, Seoul estimates 600 dead and thousands of injured

(ANSA -AFP) – Rome, Aug 30 – The North Korean leader Kim Jong Uno met the families of the fallen soldiers by fighting for Russia against Ukraine and expressed his condolences for their “unbearable pain”, reported the state media.

Pyongyang did not confirm the number of his fallen soldiers by fighting for Russia, although Seul states about 600, with thousands of injured. South Korean and Western intelligence agencies said that the North sent more than 10,000 soldiers in Russia in 2024, mainly in the Kursk region, together with artillery bullets, missile missiles and systemist systems. Kim held a speech to families yesterday, reports the official press agency Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) today, after meeting only some of them last week in another public ceremony to confer the honors for soldiers.

“I thought a lot about the families of the other martyrs who were not present. So, I organized this meeting because I wanted to meet and console families in mourning of all the heroes and alleviate at least a little their pain and their anguish,” Kim said in his speech, according to Kcna. The North Korean leader has committed to erecting a monument in the capital and a new way to families in mourning, while the state would have provided full support for the children of the fallen. “My heart breaks and suffers even more at the sight of those children,” he said. “I, our state and our army will take full responsibility for them and train them in an admirable way, making them strenuous and courageous fighters like their fathers,” he added. North Korea confirmed that it had deployed troops in support of the Russian war in Ukraine only in April and admitted that its soldiers had been killed in combat. (ANSA-AFP).
