India, 150 injured by fireworks explosion in temple

In Kerala, during a night function with thousands of faithful

Over 150 people were injured, of which at least a dozen were seriously burned, by the explosion of a fireworks warehouse in the Kasaragod temple in the Indian state of Kerala.

The accident occurred during a night ritual, which thousands of faithful were attending.

The explosions, caused by the fall of some sparks on the warehouse which was located a few meters from the enclosure where the rite was celebrated, transformed the area into a ball of fire, creating panic among the faithful. Many were injured in the crush while trying to escape.

The authorities inform that they have stopped those responsible for the temple, who did not have authorization to use fireworks.
