Impeachment motion, 'Yoon violated the Constitution'

Opposition in Seoul: ‘Martial law to avoid investigations’

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol violated the constitution by declaring martial law in an attempt to evade an investigation against him. This can be read in the impeachment motion presented by the opposition parties. Yoon “grossly and comprehensively violated the Constitution and the law,” the motion states, adding that the imposition of martial law was “motivated not by national security concerns but by the intent to evade investigation of criminal charges involving President Yoon and his family.”
