Eleven deaths from sudden floods in Pakistan

Risk at least until Tuesday, according to experts

Eleven people died due to sudden floods in the mountainous areas of north-western Pakistan at the beginning of the Monsoni season. This was announced by the Provincial Authority for the management of disasters on the night between Friday and Saturday.

“The sudden floods killed 11 people, including four children and three women, and have wounded six more” Friday, while “56 houses have been damaged, six of whom are completely destroyed”, reads a report by the provincial authority of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The specific relationship that ten of the killed people were in the Swat valley, where, according to local media, a sudden flooding of the river overwhelmed entire families who were on his banks.

The National Meteorological Service warned that the risk of strong rains and therefore of possible sudden floods remains high at least until Tuesday. In May, at least 24 people died in violent storms in Pakistan, which this spring recorded several extreme weather events, including unprecedented hailstorms.
