China, 'Iran on nuclear power is needed a diplomatic solution'

On the eve of the talks of Beijing with Moscow and Tehran

China urges “a diplomatic solution” on the complex question of Iranian nuclear power. This is what the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, Mao Ning, on the eve of the Beijing interviews on the theme with Russia and Iran.

With regard to the expectations of the meeting between China, Russia and Iran, Mao observed that Beijing has issued the relative information with the parties that will exchange “opinions on the Iranian nuclear question and other questions of mutual interest”, according to Wednesday’s note from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and part of the global joint action plan (JCPOA, the 2015 agreement on Tehran nuclear power), “China has constantly supported the adequate resolution of the question of Iranian atomic activities through political and diplomatic means, maintaining the international non -proliferation regime and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East”.

Mao then observed that tomorrow’s meeting “represents the last diplomatic effort of China aimed at improving communication and coordination, creating the conditions for the rapid recovery of dialogue and negotiations”. In the current situation, the spokesman concluded, “we hope that all the parties involved remain calm and exercise moderation to avoid the escalation of tensions and the approach to the clash and conflict”.
