Difficult fourth quarter for US companies, leader by a whisker
Apple still under pressure in China. iPhone shipments fell 25% in the fourth quarter, compared to the 24% growth recorded by smartphones from Huawei, its fiercest rival.
According to data from the research company Canalys, the Cupertino company is the leader with 13.1 million units of units (market share of 17%), just ahead of the Shenzhen giant at 12.9 million, in a growing competition involving other Chinese players.
Total shipments in the fourth quarter in China rose 5% annually to 77.4 million units, those in the whole of 2024 rose 4% to 285 million.
