Vietnam, to Lam on an official visit to Russia

The Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, to Lam, is expected in Russia for an official visit that will also touch Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Belarus, from 5 to 12 May.

The Vice Foreign Vice Minister The Thu Hang Thu Hang defined it, as Voice of Vietnam reports, a key moment of the country’s foreign policy, with particular strategic meaning. The visit to Russia, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, takes place in a context of symbolic anniversaries: the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the 80/or the Soviet victory in the Second World War, and the 50/or anniversary of the reunification of Vietnam.

During the visit, high level meetings are planned to strengthen political, economic and strategic cooperation, which remains priority in the safety, defense, and energy fields. The two countries are in fact negotiating new agreements on oil, gas and civil nuclear nuclear power centuries.

In 2024, bilateral commercial exchanges exceeded 4.6 billion dollars, growing 26% on an annual basis.

The stages in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Belarus, the first official journey of To Lam, aim to strengthen political trust and relationships between parties, promoting, among others, also cultural and scientific cooperation.
