For the protection of biodiversity
Vietnam is intensifying the efforts to strengthen the connection between its national parks recognized as part of the Asean Heritage Parks (AHP), with the aim of improving the protection of biodiversity and the sustainable management of natural areas, as stated in Vietnam News.
Currently, Vietnam has 12 recognized parks such as AHP, an initiative established in 2003 among the countries of the South East Asia to preserve the distinctive ecosystems of the region.
To strengthen their protection, the Vietnamese government has started a program that provides for collaboration between management bodies, local communities and international organizations.
Among the measures adopted include the formation of specialized forestry staff, the implementation of monitoring systems and the increase in awareness -raising activities.
Vietnam also aims to expand the network, with the insertion of three new parks by 2025.
The plan is part of the broader framework of the national strategy for biodiversity, which provides concrete actions until 2030.
