Parliament approves a project to connect the port of Hai Phong
The Vietnamese Parliament has approved the plans for a new railway line worth 8 billion dollars from Hai Phong, the largest port city in the north of the country, on the border with China in order to strengthen connections between the two countries and facilitate trade.
The infrastructure have reported the local media, will cross some of the main manufacturing centers of Vietnam, the seat of Samsung, Foxconn, Pegatron and other global giants, many of which depend on a regular flow of components from China.
The path of the line will extend for 390 kilometers, from you Phong to the mountainous city of Lao Cai, which borders the Chinese province of Yunnan, and will also cross the Hanoi capital. Some of the loans necessary to support the work will be insured by China through loans: it is one of the two railway lines for the dragon, part of the Belt and Road Initiative (Bri), the new Beijing silk route.
