The world tour of the ambassador of Made in Italy continues
After a stop that lasted almost six days, today Vespucci, shortly after midday, cast off its moorings and left the port of Mumbai. The next appointment with the Navy training ship and the Villaggio Italia is set for December 16th when the historic sailing ship will arrive in Doha, Qatar.
The greeting ceremony, during which the Air Force band sang the national anthem and the Indian fanfare that of the host country, was attended by, among others, Admiral Antonio Natale, commander of the Navy schools, and the consul general of ‘Italy in Mumbai Walter Ferrara.
“The ‘naval diplomacy’ mission of the icon of our Navy continues,” Natale said during the ceremony. On the second world tour in its history, Vespucci, before returning to Genoa in 2025, will call at a total of 30 ports in 20 countries on five continents, effectively playing the role of traveling ambassador of Made in Italy around the world.
Ferrara recalled that the ship, for the first time in its history, stopped in India and hoped that this event marks the start of a “new season” in relations between Italy and India.
