‘An extraordinary showcase, a driving force for investments in Italy’
Expo Osaka 2025 as an “extraordinary showcase”, to exploit international visibility, favoring economic agreements, boosting Italian exports, and becoming a driving force for foreign investments in Italy. Therefore not only research, technology and innovation, but also talent, commitment and opportunities for young people in the world of art, with daily performances in the Pavilion theatre”. This was reiterated by the General Commissioner, Mario Vattani, during the first institutional visit of the construction site of the Italian Pavilion organized for the international press. “We think that 10 years after the Milan Expo, Italy wants to continue talking about food and development conditions, agriculture, and new products. We talk about the theme of ‘Italian know-how’ because in our way of seeing sustainability is not only achieved with different practices, consumption methods or energies, but also with ingenuity, and with innovative choices, in designing and Do”.
The Italian one is in fact the largest national pavilion built entirely of wood, underlined Vattani, defining it “an act of friendship with Japan”, because it was decided to embrace the line of sustainability after a process of dialogue with the organizing committee, and also thanks to the collaboration with two Japanese companies, Nomura and Nishio.
The agreement signed in March with the President of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Massimiliano Fedriga, who was visiting Osaka also as President of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, falls in this direction, particularly encouraging the attraction of investments, via the Selecting Italy format.
Weekly events will be dedicated to the Italian regions, explains Vattani, and thanks to the collaboration with the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (Mimit), Japanese companies that have invested in Italy will be invited to share their experiences. A strategic and fundamental country starting from the knowledge of the territories, Fedriga underlined in front of a large audience of local journalists. “We would like it to be not only the home of Italy, but also the home of Japan, and of the very close relationship that binds the two countries.”
