‘Urgent need for a political solution’
The USA, France, Germany and Great Britain call for a “de-escalation” in Syria and urge, in a joint statement, the protection of civilians and infrastructure.
“The current escalation only underscores the urgent need for a Syrian-led political solution to the conflict, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254,” read the statement released by the US State Department , which refers to the 2015 UN resolution that endorsed a peace process in Syria.
