Philemon Yang: I ask both sides the maximum moderation
The president of the United Nations General Assembly, Philemon Yang, said he was “deeply worried” for the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan: the CNN reports.
“I ask both sides the maximum moderation and an immediate de-Escalation. I repeat my condemnation of all terrorist attacks and attacks against civilians and civil infrastructures,” said Yang, adding that the conflict should be resolved through “dialogue and diplomatic solutions”.
According to a correspondence of the CNN, a United Nations team arrived yesterday in a site in the Kashmir administered by Pachistan who, according to Islamabad, was hit by the Indian missile attacks. The journalist reported that he saw two white United Nations vehicles in the city of Muzaffarabad, where – according to Pakistan – a mosque was hit in the early hours of Wednesday.
India said that no military, civil or economic site has been targeted in its attacks. Pakistan, however, said that yesterday’s attacks hit civilians and targeted the mosques.
