Taliban warning to NGOs, license at risk if women work

New warning from the ministry on X

The Taliban has threatened that they will close down all domestic and foreign non-governmental groups in Afghanistan that employ women. This comes two years after he told NGOs to suspend the employment of women, allegedly because they were not wearing the Islamic headscarf correctly.

In a letter published on X, the Ministry of Economy warned that failure to comply with the latest order would lead to NGOs losing their license to operate in the country. The ministry said it is responsible for registering, coordinating, directing and supervising all activities carried out by domestic and foreign organizations. He then again ordered a halt to all women’s activities in institutions not controlled by the Taliban.

“In case of non-cooperation, all activities of that institution will be canceled and the business license granted by the ministry will also be cancelled, the letter reads.
