Tajani, 'special strategic partnership with Seoul that looks to the future'

‘Focus on high-tech sectors, such as semiconductors’

“I greet and thank the President of the Republic of Korea Lee for being here with us this evening. His state visit marks another important step forward in the process of greatly relaunching relations between our countries.

I greet Foreign Minister Cho, Minister of Trade and Industry Kim and all entrepreneurs and representatives of trade associations”. This was said by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani speaking at the Italy-Korea High Level Economic Forum, at The Westin Excelsior Hotel in Rome, in the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae Myung.

“The presence this evening of the leaders of our most important production companies testifies to the common commitment to the growth of our economic partnership. With the 2026-2030 Strategic Action Plan adopted today by Prime Minister Meloni and President Lee we want to give a strong operational impulse to our Special Strategic Partnership”, he added. Tajani then underlined that “the focus on high-tech sectors, such as semiconductors, and on research and innovation, demonstrates that ours is a strategic partnership that looks to the future. A partnership that we want to increasingly strengthen to encourage the growth of trade, investments and industrial partnerships in all the most innovative sectors”.
