Warning for strong winds and ‘potentially deadly’ storm surges
(ANSA-AFP) – MANILA, NOV 16 – A strong storm heading towards the Philippines has intensified, turning into a ‘super typhoon’. The meteorological agency announced this, warning citizens of strong winds and storm surges which could be “potentially deadly”. Waves up to 14 meters high are expected around the island of Catanduanes, in the eastern area of the archipelago, where Man-yi is expected to touch land between today and tomorrow, as the latest forecasts indicate. The authorities ordered the evacuation of over 250 thousand people and the return of boats to port. (ANSA-AFP).
