Fear for finds in Hangeul, Guardian National Alphabet History
(ANSA -AFP) – Seul, 01 Feb – A fire broke out this morning on the roof of a South Korean State Museum that exhibits the history of the alphabet of the Asian country, the Hangeul National Museum of Seoul.
The stake produced a “large amount of smoke”, according to the authorities of the Yongsan district. Some television shots showed a large dark gray smoke that spread in the sky from the top of the building. The local broadcaster Ytn reported that a firefighter was taken to the hospital.
The District Office has warned the residents in the vicinity of keeping the windows closed.
The Hangeul State Museum houses priceless materials and remains related to the Korean alphabet, invented in 1443.
The accident takes place a few days after an Air Busan plane caught fire at the Gimhae international airport Tuesday, an accident that saw 176 evacuated and seven injured.
