Confirmed the impeachment for the martial law declaration
The South Korean Constitutional Court has confirmed the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-Yeol, arousing him from his assignment.
“With this we pronounce the following sentence, with the unanimous agreement of all the judges: we dismiss the defendant President Yoon,” said the Moon Hyung-Bae acting judge today. The Constitutional Court of South Korea stated that the Martial Law Declaration made by the President “violated” the Constitution of the Asian country. Yoon “did not limit himself to declaring martial law, but continued to commit acts that violated the Constitution and the law, including the mobilization of military and police forces to hinder the exercise of the authority of the national assembly”, added the court.
Yoon Party said that solemnly accepting “the decision of the South Korean Constitutional Court. “It is deplorable, but the party of popular power solemnly accepts and humbly respects the decision of the Constitutional Court. We sincerely apologize to the people,” said the exponent of the PPP and parliamentarian Kwon Young-if.
The leader of the South Korean opposition Lee Jae -myung welcomed Yoon’s impeachment. “He destroyed the Constitution and threatened the people and democracy with the guns and knives that the people had entrusted to him,” Lee said after the sentence. The opposition leader is the favorite in the advanced South Korean elections, expected within 60 days.
