Seoul, over 13 million early votes for the presidential elections

The turnout already at 29.97% in view of the elections of 3 June

More than 13 million South Korean voters expressed the early vote in view of the early presidential elections on June 3, in the latest data of the National Electoral Commission. The turnout stood at 29.97% at 15:00 local (8:00) in Italy), on the second and last day of early vote, just below the historical record of 30.74% recorded in the same period at the 2022 presidential elections.

About 44.3 million voters have the right to vote in South Korea and the electoral proof of June 3 was presented as the opportunity to close months of political chaos triggered by the clumsy and short state of the martial law of 3 December by the former conservative president Yoon Suk-Yeol, definitively removed from the office at the beginning of April with the confirmation of the judgment of impeachment by the Constitutional Court.

Both the candidate of the Democratic Party, Lee Jae-Myung and that of the Power People Party that supported Yoon, Kim Moon-Soo addressed an appeal to participation, reported Yonhap, claiming to be able to take advantage of the high turnout in a three-way race that includes Lee Jun-Seok.

One of the latest polls on the presidential elections, published on Wednesday before the ban a week after the vote, saw Lee in the lead with 49.2% of the popular favor, followed by Kim with 36.8%. In Lee Jun-Seok, however, a 10.3%share is assigned.
