Vice premier, ‘we will not start clash but if we provoke we will reply’
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pachistano, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, warned that any attempt by India to raise the tension after Pahalgam’s accident, Jammu and Kashmir administered by India, would meet a “very strong” response, although Pakistan himself has no intention of starting any clash.
“Pakistan will not be the first to resort to a escalation maneuver but, if caused, he will respond strongly,” said Dar a joint press conference in Islamabad together with the Pachistano military spokesman, the lieutenant general Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.
The tensions between the two neighbors with nuclear weapons increased after the attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, who killed 26 people. India has attributed responsibility to Pakistan, who categorically rejected the accusation asking for an independent investigation. Dar reiterated the condemnation of the attack and that Pakistan has nothing to do with it. He added that Pakistan, as a non -permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, joined a firm condemnation of the attack on that venue.
Dar then criticized the alleged decision of India to suspend the treaty on the waters of the ado, calling it “illegal and highly irresponsible”. He warned in this regard that any attempt to deviate water flows would be considered “a war act” and a direct attack on the economy and the Pakistani population. Our agricultural economy depends on this treaty. Any violation of its terms affects regional cooperation to the heart and creates a dangerous precedent, “said Dar.
The head of the army Chaudhry said that the Pakistani army “completed all preparations for a retaliation response and that the Pakistani nation will defend its sovereignty and integrity at all costs”.
