Pakistan, attack and suicide bombing on Peshawar police command

Explosions and victims, ‘area surrounded, perhaps other terrorists’

Gunmen and a suicide bomber attacked the headquarters of paramilitary forces in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, media reported. Al-Jazeera writes it.

The Dawn newspaper reported that the Federal Police headquarters was “under attack” and that a suicide bomber had detonated explosives at the entrance to the compound. The newspaper cited police and security sources in Peshawar. The sources said two fighters were killed and security forces cordoned off the area.

The Reuters news agency reported that the compound was hit by two suicide bombers and that at least three people were killed. “The first suicide bomber first attacked the main police entrance and the other entered the compound,” said a senior official who spoke on condition of anonymity. “Law enforcement agencies, including army and police, have cordoned off the area and are handling the situation with caution as we suspect there are terrorists inside the headquarters,” the official added. The police headquarters is located in a crowded area, near a military headquarters.
