The Minister of Defense, Dr. NG, met Mrs. Judith Collins, her New Zealand counterpart in Auckland on 9 March, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the defense sector.
The news was released by the Ministry of Defense of Singapore in a statement to the local press.
The two leaders co-owned the fourth bilateral meeting between the two countries and discussed how to intensify collaboration also on other platforms, such as the Five Power Defence Arrangements and the Asean Defense Ministers’ Meeting-Plus.
The Five Power Defegers Arrangements are a multilateral defense agreement, not formal as NATO, signed in 1971 between the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore, born after the British retreat from the Region to guarantee the security of Singapore and Malaysia in the event of aggressions.
The ASEAN DEFENCE Ministers’ Meeting-Plus is a defense cooperation forum that brings together the defense ministers of the 10 Asean countries and 8 dialogue partners: USA, Russia, China, Australia, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand and India.
