Media, 'Afghan Taliban summon Pakistani ambassador after raids'

‘Military attacks have caused dozens of civilian casualties’

The Taliban-led Afghan government today summoned the Pakistani ambassador to Kabul following air strikes on Afghan soil that killed at least 17 civilians, including 11 children, the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry said, Efe writes.

“In response to Pakistani military attacks on Nangarhar and Paktika provinces, which caused dozens of civilian casualties, the Foreign Ministry summoned the Pakistani ambassador and lodged a protest through a formal initiative,” an official statement said.

“The ministry vehemently condemns the violation of Afghan airspace and the attack on civilians, describing it as a flagrant violation of Afghanistan’s territorial integrity and a provocative action.” The ministry warned Islamabad that responsibility “for any adverse consequences of such actions will lie with the adverse party.”

A Pakistani security source previously told AFP that airstrikes on neighboring Afghanistan had killed “more than 80” militants.
