Malaysia criticizes the 'double standards' on the 'atrocities' to Gaza

Kuala Lumpur: erosion of the sacro international law

Malay Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan today condemned the “atrocities” in the Gaza strip by stating that they reflect “indifference and double standards” on the difficult situation of the Palestinian people.

“They are the direct result of the erosion of the sacro international law,” said Mohamad to his homologues of the Association of Nations of Southeast Asia (Asean) in view of tomorrow’s summit in Kuala Lumpur. “The atrocities committed against the Palestinian people continue to reflect indifference and double standards,” said the Minister of Malaysia, claiming that “Asean cannot remain silent”.

Kuala Lumpur holds the presidency on duty of the regional block. The Asean foreign ministers, made up of 10 members, in February stated their “long -standing support” to the rights of the Palestinians. Malesia, with Muslim majority, does not have diplomatic relations with Israel and many citizens of the Southeast Asian country support the Palestinians. Kuala Lumpur has disbursed donations and humanitarian aid for over $ 10 million in Gaza from the outbreak of the war in October 2023.
