And he accuses Israel, ‘it has decimated the entire education system in Gaza’
Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has urged Muslim leaders not to “legitimize” the Afghan Taliban government and to “show real leadership” by opposing their restrictions on the education of women and girls.
The 27-year-old Yousafzai, a global activist for the education of girls whom the Pakistani Taliban tried to kill in 2012, spoke at a summit on girls’ education in Muslim countries held in Islamabad, Pakistan: an event that the Taliban did not want participate. “As Islamic leaders, now is the time to raise your voice, use your power. You can show real leadership,” he said.
Malala then accused Israel of having “decimated the entire education system” in Gaza. “They bombed all universities, destroyed more than 90 percent of schools and indiscriminately attacked civilians taking refuge in school buildings,” he said. “I will continue to denounce Israel’s violations of international law and human rights,” concluded the Pakistani activist.
