India, Star Bollywood ask for rights against fake of IA

Fasulle identity increasingly frequent on social and web

A series of Bollywood stars and Indian show personality has appealed in the last few weeks to the high court of Delhi to obtain the protection of “personality rights”: among them, the director Karan Johar, the actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and her husband, also an actor, Abhishek Bachchan, son of the Amaitabh Superstar. All of them were victims of photos or videos created with the IA and disseminated on the websites and on the social networks in which they were copied, imitating to perfection, voices, attitudes, use of language, and in some cases, involved in obsentment.

India does not have a specific legislation that protects “the right to identity”, and those who suffer this type of “theft” can only contact the judiciary ask for protection.

In 2023, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor sued numerous websites and platforms who had seized his voice and his own way of saying (“Jhakaas”, exceptional!), For advertising purposes. In 2024 Delhi’s Alta Court issued an ordinance that protects the personal rights of the actor Jackie Shroff forbidding the unauthorized use of his name, image and even nicknames.
