Meeting between foreign ministers, together to challenge US duties
The foreign ministers of Japan, South Korea and China have agreed to strengthen their cooperation, said Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, despite the commercial pressures of the United States.
“We had an exchange of opinions Franco on trilateral cooperation and regional and international affairs from a wide perspective, and we confirmed that we will promote a cooperation oriented to the future,” Iwaya said to journalists after a trilateral meeting in Tokyo.
Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya insisted with its Chinese and South Korean counterparts on the fact that it is not acceptable “anywhere” change the status quo with force, referring to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “As for the situation in Ukraine, I underlined the need for the international community to unite to reiterate that any attempt to unilaterally change the status quo with force will not be tolerated anywhere in the world,” said Takeshi Iwaya to journalists after Tokyo interviews with his Chinese homologues Wang Yi and South Korean Cho Tae-Yul.
Finally, the ministers agreed on the fact that peace in the Korean peninsula is a shared “responsibility”, said the South Korean foreign minister Cho Tae-Yul.
“We reiterated that the maintenance of peace and stability in the Korean peninsula is a common interest and a shared responsibility of the three countries,” said Cho to journalists in Tokyo after the trilateral interviews.
