Chinese team discovers new Coronavirus transmissible to man

Study conducted on Wuhan’s famous pipistrelli

A Chinese team has discovered a new bats of the bats that involves the risk of transmission from animal to man because it uses the same human receptor of the virus that causes Covid-19. The study, reports the South China Morning Post, was led by Shi Zhengli, the prominent virologist known as the ‘Batwoman’ for its vast research on the crownavirus of bats, at the Guangzhou laboratory together with researchers from the Guangzhou Academy of Sciences, Wuhan University and Wuhan Institute of Virology. Shi worked at the Wuhan Institute, at the center of the controversy on the origins of Covid.
