‘WHO role should only be strengthened’
China has expressed concern about “the US exit from the Paris climate agreements”, based on the executive order signed yesterday by Donald Trump, who had just returned to the White House.
“China is strongly committed to responding to the climate crisis and will jointly promote the energy transition on a global scale,” commented Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun.
The spokesperson also stated that the role of the World Health Organization (WHO) “should only be strengthened and not weakened”, after the executive order to leave the UN agency in Geneva signed by Trump. “China will continue to support the WHO in assuming its responsibilities.”
